I believe this is the hardest Position in the NFL to rank and has been the past 4-5 years. Read my breakdowns and try to understand why i choose this player at 1 and the other at 2.
1. Nnamdi Asomugha
In 2007, quarterbacks threw in his direction only 31 times for staggering 10 receptions. In 2008, he was tested only 27 times, giving up only 8 receptions for the year. The stats are scary. Thats shutting down one side of the field all season. The knock i have on Nnamdi is he only plays on one side of the field and teams can game plan against that and put best WR's on the other side. Obviously the Raiders have enough confident in the other guy because teams do that. Understand I have him number #1 is because is he has put these stats up on a yearly basis without any kind of pass rushing force. He was debated 2-3 years ago who was better: him or Champ , Now him and Revis and My answer is Nnamdi. He is a free agent this year and will have the choice to play for whoever he wants to play for, not them picking him.
2. Darrelle Revis
I will come out the gate at state this. Revis lines up against the best receivers in the league, Sunday after Sunday, and shuts them down. He held Andre Johnson, arguably the best wide receiver playing today, to four passes for 35 yards. My knock is the great pass rush that he plays with. The Jets will yield a top 5 defense as long as Rex is Head Coach. The Randy Moss TD will always stick in my mind because he was obviously beat, no pass rush availed that play, and Revis pulled up when he knew he was beat.
3. Champ Bailey
Old but still gets the job done. If u don't think so, check Denver draft class. Patrick Peterson was still on the board and was rated the best player in the draft by most. Not the elite player he use to be and hes 3rd so that speaks volume of his talents. Future 1st ballot HOF.
4. Asante Samuel
Great Corner who sometimes plays for stats which is fine as long as he makes the play. He better in zone than in Man but is a elite play maker.
5. Charles Woodson
You might think Im crazy for having Charles here but understand why. If this was a player maker list, Charles would've been top 3 but its a corner list. His playmaking ability makes him her at 5. He rarely guards top WR or speedy WR's. Sometimes moves to Safety on the team their playing that week or even plays the slot. His ability is to find the ball and destroy it. The Packers will rush him off the edge. No CB in the league is asked to do what Woodson do and i dont think they could.
6. Devin Mccourty
7. Antonio Winfield
8. Tramon Williams
9. Jonathan Joseph
10. De'Angelo Hall
